Oct. 6 regional town meeting a first for area
by Jeffrey B. Roth
A regional town meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 6, at 5:30 p.m., at the Sedgwick Fire Station on Sedgwick Ridge Road.
Organized by Ben Astbury, chair of the Sedgwick Select Board, the meeting is open to the public and will be attended by regional town managers and members of select boards for the purpose of discussing broad topics that impact local communities, from climate change to recycling.
“This is a meeting for surrounding towns to discuss various topics,” explained Shawna Ambrose, Blue Hill town administrator. “There has never been a partnership such as this one, so this meeting will give towns an opportunity to speak about issues they are currently facing that can range from waste management, to broadband, to ARP [American Rescue Plan] funding, sea-level rise, and so on.”
