Soccer: Eagles fall to Orono—In their season openers, the boys and girls soccer teams went on the road to Orono, but both fell to the Red Riots. The final scores were 4-2 for the boys, with Philip Shaheen and Anthony Bianco scoring in the first half.
The girls fell 5-2, with goals by Maddie Politte and Alissa Muise. Goalie Jen McKenney made 19 saves on 24 shots. The results of the girls at DI-S on September 11 were not available at press time.
Cross-country: John Hassett was top freshman at the Ellsworth Invitational on September 9, coming in 19th overall. He set a school record for the course at 18:43.86. Hanna Gutow crossed the finish line in 13th place and set a GSA record for the girls at 21:53.65. In a field of 12 schools, the boys and girls each raced seven runners and placed eighth.
Golf: The Eagles are 5-0 for the season in matches against Searsport, Sumner, Ellsworth, Calais and MDI. Senior Alex Heilner earned medalist status for all matches.
