School Union 93 Bids for snow plowing at the Blue Hill Consolidated School Yard, Adams School in Castine, the Brooksville Elementary School Yard, the Penobscot Elementary School Yard, and bus turnarounds in Penobscot are being accepted by the school committees. Bids are also being accepted for removal of snow from sidewalks and doorways at the Blue Hill Consolidated School. If interested, please call the Superintendent's Office in Blue Hill at 374-9927, or stop by to receive bid forms before the 30th of September. The school committees reserve the right to reject any or all bids.

The Town of Deer Isle will hold a Special Town Meeting on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at 7 p.m., at the Deer Isle Town Hall to see if the Town will authorize the Board of Selectman to make changes on the proposed amendment to the Inland Zoning Ordinance and set fees for building and use permits. Amendments can be reviewed at the Deer Isle Town Office.

Mandatory Water Conservation: Because of the ongoing drought, the Castine Selectmen, following the recommendation of the Utility Board and Wa- ter Department, have enacted a Mandatory Water Conservation Order effective September 19, 2016. We ask all Castine Water Department customers to limit daily consumption in bathing, dishwashing, laundry and general usage. No outdoor watering, washing of vehicles or boats is allowed under this Order. Thank you.
Scoop the Poop: It is noted that there has been more than usual doggy poop remains left around town. Castine is a pet-friendly town but please be courteous and clean up after your dog especially in areas of public sidewalks & roads, Fort Madison & Fort George. Scoop the Poop!!
Town/Acadia Float Removal: The Town Dock float & dinghy floats are schedule to be removed for the season on Wednesday, 10/12. The Acadia floats on Tuesday, 11/15. Please make sure your dinghies are removed by these dates.
