Deer Isle woman dies in Sedgwick crash
by Anne Berleant
A single car accident on Snow Cove’s Road September 24 resulted in the death of a Deer Isle resident. Nancy Blastow, 70, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Maine State Police responded to the accident, which occurred just north of Caterpillar Hill at Four Winds Lane at about 10:50 a.m.
“Investigation indicates that [Blastow’s] vehicle crossed the centerline and entered the ditch,” Lieutenant Rod Charette said in a news release from the state police. “She then corrected and lost control and struck a telephone pole.”
The pole fell across the road, closing a portion of Route 15 for several hours, with an electricity outage reported in the crash area, as well as Deer Isle and Stonington, leaving more than 3,500 people without power for about five hours.
The Sedgwick Fire Department and Peninsula Ambulance assisted.
