Five GSA jazz ensembles on to state festival

Out Too Late

All four jazz combos and the jazz band at George Stevens Academy earned 1 ratings at the District 6 High School Instrumental Jazz Festival and will move on to state competition, according to a news release from GSA.

GSA’s Octessence combo is composed of Gabe Hall, Hannah Dyer, Ruby Cossaboon, Morgan Davis, Emily Whiting, Bess MacArthur, Amara Birdsall and Emma Brown.

Out Too Late is made up of Meredith Bradshaw Thomas, Hunter Sargent, Juliette Claybaugh, River Muise, Ezekiel Sacaridiz, Adam Matthewson and Bess MacArthur.

Jam Bake includes Erika Hipsky, Courtney Bianco, LeeAnn Varnum, Duncan Howell, Elana Williamson, Tess Williamson, Quinn Stabler and Edward Conte.

Up Too Early is composed of LeeAnn Varnum, Ian Howell, Joseph Mitchell, Rachel Whitmore, Dawsen Astbury, Asha Kirkland and Joey Khederian.

The GSA Jazz Band includes Courtney Bianco, Erika Hipsky, Margaret Nevin, LeeAnn Varnum, Hannah Dyer, Juliette Claybaugh, Ian Howell, Meredith Bradshaw Thomas, Danielle Bianco, Dawsen Astbury, Gabe Hall, Haolin Cody Yang, Duncan Howell, Susanna Jakub, Rachel Whitmore, Elana Williamson, Tess Williamson, Quinn Stabler and Edward Conte.                 

The Maine State High School Instrumental Jazz Festival, scheduled for March 15 and 16, will take place at South Portland High School.
