Blue Hill church to stage Christmas supper at Bethlehem Inn
by Anne Berleant
The First Baptist Church of Blue Hill Sunday School invites the community to a Christmas supper at the Bethlehem Inn on Sunday, December 23, at 5 p.m.
The interactive program will be held at the Baptist Church on Pleasant Street and will start with a simple supper of chicken soup, bread and fruit. During the meal, shepherds, wise men and a young couple imminently due to have a baby will visit diners eating at the inn.
The cost is two pennies: one for the meal and one for the tax collector, according to director Sue Fenders.
“We’re in hopes that people would like to come away from the hustle and bustle of parties and shopping and see what Christmas is really about,” she said. “This program explains the what and how of Christmas.”
No reservations are needed, and the church is prepared to receive over 100 individual diners, who are asked to arrive promptly as the program begins at 5 p.m.
“Just show up,” Fenders said. “The church is doing this for the community.”
If the weather prevents the event from being held, the storm date is December 30 at 5 p.m. For more information, call Sue Fenders at 374-2013.
