Three teachers, 71 years of service
BHCS to fête retiring teachers

by Anne Berleant

The dedication and longevity of three Blue Hill Consolidated School teachers will be celebrated in style on June 12.

The elementary school is throwing a retirement party for middle school teacher Maryanne Lewandowski (30 years), librarian Beth Jackson (26 years) and speech teacher Julie O’Neill (15 years), who will say farewell to colleagues, students and parents when the school year comes to an end.

To show thanks and appreciation, the school will turn the playground into an early summer fête complete with music, food and fireworks. The event will take place from 7 to 9 p.m.

If it rains, the party will move into the BHCS gym sans fireworks; if the weather is deemed too dry, the venue will be the Town Park, with the fireworks display from Blue Hill Bay.

The BHCS Jazz Band and Planet Pan will provide music for listening and dancing, accompanied by an ice cream social.
