Blue Hill church to host annual Blueberry Fest

Think blueberry!

That is what folks at the First Congregational Church of Blue Hill are hoping you will do. Their sixth annual Blueberry Fest will be held Saturday, August 2, launched by a blueberry pancake breakfast in the church’s Fisher Hall.

Pancakes will be available from 7 to 10 a.m., late enough to accommodate early birds and participants in Blue Hill Memorial Hospital’s race to be held that morning. During the day, until 3 p.m., there will be continual music by local musicians, children’s games, a dunk tank, a jump house, and contests with prizes awarded by the “Blueberry Lady.” Cake walks, a silent auction, antique car rides, blueberry baked goods, white elephant treasures, and used books will be available, as well as fresh blueberries, blueberry granola, and festival souvenirs.

Hot dogs, hamburgers, veggie burgers, chili, ice cream, blueberry smoothies, and blueberry shortcake are on the lunch menu.

The festival will also feature local artisans and antique dealers on the church lawn and at the American Legion Hall across the street. Inside the Legion Hall will be a used book sale.
