Nomination papers released in Blue Hill January 9

Nomination papers in the town of Blue Hill for municipal and school positions will be available to the public on January 9.

There is one open three-year seat on the board of selectmen, currently held by John Bannister.

There are two open three-year seats on the planning board; one is currently held by Ken Charles and the other had been held by Betty Stookey who resigned last year.

There are two open three-year seats on the school board, currently held by Patricia Rice and Susan Keenan.

There is also one three-year term as road commissioner, currently held by Billy Cousins.

Papers must be returned to the town office by the close of business on Friday, February 14, with at least 25 signatures, but no more than 100.

The deadline to submit funding articles for the 2014 annual town meeting was December 31. Those wishing to submit issue-specific articles for consideration can do so by petition up until such time as a warrant is finalized. Those wishing to do so should contact the board of selectmen for a more specific date for the process.

Town meeting will take place April 4 (voting) and 5 (remaining warrant articles).
