Blue Hill Concert Association presents guitar quartet
The Blue Hill Concert Association, bringing world-class concerts to Blue Hill for more than 35 winters, continues its concert season on Sunday, February 2, with the internationally-acclaimed and award-winning Brazilian Guitar Quartet, an ensemble that performs classical works written for guitars as well as for other string instruments.
Winner of the 2011 Latin Grammy Award for “Best Classical Album,” the Brazilian Guitar Quartet has been repeatedly praised for its beautiful sound, virtuoso playing, unusual repertoire, and creative use of both six-string and eight-string guitars, the association said in a news release. In 2004, the quartet headlined the first World Guitar Congress in Baltimore. More recently they toured Brazil to honor the centennial of Isaac Albéniz’s death. They have performed to sold-out audiences throughout Latin America, North America, Europe, and Asia. They have released five CD albums under the Delos label.
The concert begins at 3 p.m. at the Congregational Church in Blue Hill. Tickets may be purchased at the door or online through PayPal at bluehillconcertassociation.org.
