Blue Hill papers available, few returned so far

by Faith DeAmbrose

Nomination papers are available for open municipal and school seats in Blue Hill, with a filing deadline set for Friday, February 14.

As of press time, incumbent John Bannister is the only person to take out papers for a three-year term on the board of selectmen. Bannister currently serves as chairman of that board.

Incumbent Road Commissioner Billy Cousins has taken out papers for another run at a three-year seat in that post.

Incumbent Patricia Anne Rice has taken out papers for a three-year seat on the school board. With two open seats available, Sean Walsh has also taken out papers, but incumbent Susan Keenan has not.

There are two open three-year seats on the planning board, and as of press time, no one, including incumbent Ken Charles, has taken out papers for the seats. The other three-year seat has been vacant for a few months after the resignation of Elizabeth Stookey.

Papers can be obtained during business hours at the Blue Hill Town Hall. A minimum of 25 and maximum of 100 signatures are needed.

Town meeting will take place on Friday and Saturday, April 4 and 5.
