Philip Shaheen selected among Maine’s top high school student-athletes
George Stevens Academy’s Philip Shaheen was named to the 2014 Maine McDonald’s High School Senior All-State Academic Team, according to a news release. The 10 boys and 10 girls selected were nominated by their coaches and were chosen to represent the more than 148 high schools in the state of Maine.
Maine McDonald’s High School Senior All-State Academic Team members are selected by a panel of leaders from Maine’s high school basketball coaching community. To be eligible for the team, the Maine Association of Basketball Coaches requires players to meet the following criteria:
• Achieve a grade point average of 90 or better for seven consecutive semesters.
• Be a member of their school’s varsity basketball team for at least two complete seasons.
• Make a significant contribution to their team during the 2013-2014 season.
The 2014 Maine McDonald’s High School Senior All-Star Basketball Games will be played at Newman Gymnasium on the campus of Husson University in Bangor on Saturday, March 8. Game day tickets are good for all four games and may be purchased at the door on Saturday, March 8. More information is available at mainemcdonaldsbasketball.org.
