Boys Soccer: The boys scored a 6-1 win over Mount Desert Island in a September 17 home game. The victory was a team effort, with Anthony Bianco scoring two goals and Ncik Szwez, Ata Bahar, Loriman Looke and Beowulf Urban each notching one. Phillip Shaheen had three assists. They are 1-2 for the season after a 4-3 loss to Washington Academy one week earlier. Next up: Sumner at home on Sep. 19; at Bucksport on Sep. 21; DISHS at home on Sep. 23.
Girls Soccer: The girls posted their first win (5-3) of the season over Washington Academy on September 13, followed by a tie against Bucksport. Despite two overtimes, the match finished at 1-1. Next up: Three away games against Sumner on Sep. 23, Orono on Sep. 23 and DISHS on Sep. 25.
Cross-country: The boys and girls raced to a second place finish behind rival Orono at the Bucksport Invitational Meet September 14. Freshman John Hassett finished third, and Oliver Broughton crossed the line eight seconds behind him for fourth. Devlin Valle notched eighth, Tate Yoder 12th and Oliver Dillon 13th. On the girls’ side, seven runners finished in the top 25, with sophomore Hanna Gutow at fourth, and Rachel DeFosses at 10th. Next up: The Eagles host four teams on the home course on September 20.
Golf: The team hosted two teams in a home match at the Castine Golf Club and are now 7-0 for the season. They posted 189 against Calais’ 221 and Mount Desert Island’s 195. Senior C.J. Chen broke Alex Heilner’s lowest par run and was named medalist for the match. Next up: The team has two matches left before the Penobscot Valley Conference—September 18, MDI and Ellsworth and September 23 at Calais.
