Three-car garage saved in Brooksville fire

by Jessica Brophy

Keeping the doors closed kept a structure fire from causing major damage in Brooksville on Sunday afternoon, September 29.

A three-car garage on Deborah Evans’ Bagaduce Farm on Henry Point Road caught fire, according to Brooksville Fire Chief Matt Dow. The culprit was an old electrical cord, he said.

“She was getting ready for a dairy inspection,” said Dow.

The fact that the doors were kept closed meant the fire “starved” for oxygen, said Dow. “Keeping the doors closed saved the building. We kept it contained and it was a really good save.”

The call came in at 12:54 p.m., and Brooksville, Sedgwick, Blue Hill and Penobscot fire departments were initially called out to respond. Blue Hill and Penobscot were turned back.
