The Weekly Packet to sponsor candidate forum

by Jessica Brophy

The seven candidates running for two open Blue Hill selectman seats will attend a candidate forum on Tuesday, March 26 at 7 p.m. The event was originally scheduled for Tuesday, March 19, but is postponed due to an expected snow storm.

The forum, sponsored and organized by The Weekly Packet, will be held on the second floor of the Blue Hill Town Hall, and doors open at 6:30 p.m. for an informal meet-and-greet with candidates. Light refreshments will be served.

The two candidates for the three-year seat are incumbent Jim Schatz and Ronald Coté. The five candidates for the open two-year seat are Randy Astbury, Ellen Best, Henrietta Clews, Vaughn Leach and Kathleen McClure.

Candidates will be asked a series of moderated questions—created beforehand, though not shown to candidates prior to the forum. Then each candidate will give a closing statement. The event will end promptly at 9 p.m.

Interested parties may send in suggestions for specific questions or topics for consideration to news@pbp.me with the subject line “Candidate Forum.”
