by Jessica Brophy With the Eastern Maine basketball tournaments a little more than a week away, both the boys and girls basketball teams are gearing up for post-season action. The girls basketball team hosted the Bucksport Bucks on Saturday, February 2, and won a 46-31 victory. The team then took down Bangor Christian 51-45 at a home game on Monday, February 4. Logan Eaton scored 11 points. The girls are in eighth place in the Heal Point standings with only one game left in the season, hosting 10th-place Jonesport-Beals on Thursday, February 7 at 5 p.m. The girls season record is currently 12-5. The boys basketball team dominated the Bucksport Bucks on Saturday, February 2, in a one-sided game. The boys won 62-30. Nathan Davis scored 18, Hayden Ciomei 17 with seven rebounds, Stuart Bray 13 and Tim Cormier seven points and 10 rebounds. Connor Morey had nine assists. At a game hosting Bangor Christian on Monday, February 4, the boys edged out Bangor Christian 58-49. Currently, the boys are in third place in the Heal Point standings, with a 13-4 record. The last season game will take place Thursday, February 7, at home as the Mariners host first-place Jonesport-Beals at 6:30 p.m. The cheerleaders compete for the state championship title at 3 p.m. at the Bangor Auditorium on Saturday, February 9. |
