Five-way race for open selectman’s seat in Blue Hill

by Faith DeAmbrose

The time to have taken and returned nomination papers for open school and municipal seats in Blue Hill has ended and there will be a five-way race for an open two-year seat on the board of selectmen left vacant by the September death of Duane Gray.

Candidates to appear on the ballot include Randy Astbury, Ellen Best, Henrietta Clews, Vaughn Leach and Kathleen McClure.

In a race for a three-year seat on the board of selectmen, incumbent Jim Schatz and Ronald Cote have returned papers making for a second contested race for selectman.

For two open seats on the planning board, papers were retuned by incumbent Fern Leach, incumbent Peter d’Entremont and Danner Curtis.

For one open three-year seat on the school board papers were returned by Janis Snow.

Blue Hill voters will hold town meeting on April 5 and 6.
