Why can’t I get a signal?
Cell phone service is steadily improving in the area, but is notoriously spotty, especially along the coast. Cell phone towers built on Deer Isle in recent years have improved service to much of the island and parts of Sedgwick. However, there are still problems. Granite, the stone dominating most of the coastline, interferes with signals.
Head for higher ground away from the shore when you need to make or take a call—or maybe just let it go to voicemail and head out for a walk among the spring flowers.
