Blue Hill hospital responds to community

The Blue Hill Memorial Hospital Board and Administration found the community meeting held on September 18 to be very helpful as plans for future development of services progress, according to a news release from the hospital.

“The message I heard from our community was—listen, listen, and listen some more,” said BHMH President and CEO Greg Roraff.

To that end, the BHMH Board has indicated that they will soon be appointing community members to a Campus Plan Advisory Committee to engage in that process.

The BHMH steering committee that has been charged with development of a strategic and master facility plan will continue its efforts with meetings planned for this week. Considerations will include the possible uses of all campus buildings and potential repurposing of those spaces.

In other news, the hospital will soon be installing an access ramp that will be compliant with the American Disabilities Act at the Leighton Gallery. SaraSara’s has assumed temporary occupancy in the Leighton Gallery as a result of the recent accident damaging their building.

The hospital plans to hold another public meeting this year to report progress and follow-up to the September meeting. Hospital officials are determined to communicate with the community as they continue the planning process and their dialogue with the Campus Plan Advisory Committee.
