Where’s the restroom?

You’re in a rural area—public restrooms are few and far between, so plan accordingly. As the tourist season winds down, so do your options, as facilities may have curtailed hours or decreased availability.

In Blue Hill, town hall, Main St., open business hours Mon.-Fri.

In Castine, Emerson Hall (up the hill from the waterfront on Court Street), and on the waterfront at the town dock.

In Deer Isle, town hall; in Deer Isle at the former elementary school, next to town hall.

On Isle au Haut, there is a restroom less than half mile from the town dock at the ranger station and another restroom at Duck Harbor.

In Sedgwick, portable toilets are available at the town dock, located on Carter Point Rd., off Route 175, till mid-October. Or at the town hall during business hours, Mon., 1-5 p.m., Tue., 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Wed., 8 a.m.-6 p.m., Thu., noon-7 p.m. and Fri., 1-5 p.m.

In Stonington, waterside by the town landing behind the fire station (just off Main Street).

In Surry, town hall, (off Rte. 172/Ellsworth Rd. on North Bend Rd.) Open business hours, Mon.-Fri.
