Where to find information

When in doubt, ask! There are many places where additional information can be found. While people on the street are likely to provide information you need, here is a list of resources to assist you in your planning.

To prepare for area hikes, be sure to visit the land trust websites for the area. These trusts maintain many of the area trails and can offer more information about when and where to hike: Bluehillheritagetrust.org, Islandheritagetrust.org, mita.org, MCHT.org (Maine Coast Heritage Trust), theconservationtrust.net/.

Deer Isle-Stonington Chamber of Commerce Welcome Center, Little Deer Isle, Rte. 15, a half mile on the right after crossing the Deer Isle-Sedgwick Bridge. The center is open only through Columbus Day, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., but the website is always available. deerisle.com

Blue Hill Peninsula Chamber of Commerce, 107 Main St., Blue Hill. Open Mon., Tue., Thu. and Fri., 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Other hours by appointment. bluehillpeninsula.org
