Scott's Sports Spot
by Jack Scott Spring is definitely here! I am a bit behind with the winter sports awards, but here they are. Girls Basketball Coach Darren Eaton gave out the following awards: Janelle Ciomei, the Foul Shooting award; Chelsea Brown, Top Scorer, Top Rebounder, and also the Defensive Award; Haley Brewer, Most Improved Player; Julie Hutchins, Coaches Award “Hustle”; and Logan Eaton, Rookie of the Year. Janelle Ciomei got the Harry Scott Memorial Sportsmanship Award for outstanding ability, team leadership, and sportsmanship. For individual awards outside of the school: Janelle Ciomei was voted a Class D McDonald’s All Star, Class D Senior All Star team, and a PVC All Conference Second Team; Haley Brewer, a Class D Senior All Star; and Chelsea Brown, PVC Class D All Defensive team and PVC All Conference Honorable Mention. JV Interim Coach Terry Siebert gave out the following awards: Stuart Bray, High Scorer and Top Rebounder; Jared Gove, Foul Shooting; Pat Duddy, Defensive Award; Andy Turner, Most Improved; Reid Bartlett and Ole Bartos each got the Coach’s Award. Ole Bartos also received a special award for the overall Most Improved Player. Boys Varsity Basketball Coach Glenn Billings gave out the following awards: Sam Grindle, 3-Point Goal Award; Connor Morey, Foul Shooting and Coaches Award “Hustle”; Hayden Ciomei, Rebounding Award and Most Improved Player; Tim Cormier, Most Improved Player; Kevin Melanio, Defensive Award; Nathan Davis, Sixth Man Award; Lucas Oliver, Rookie of the Year; and Jake Starkey, Coaches Award “Most Dedicated.” Sam Grindle got the Donald H. Bartlett Memorial Sportsmanship Award for outstanding ability, team leadership, and sportsmanship. For other individual awards: Kevin Melanio, PVC Class D All Defensive team and Class D Senior All Star team; Sam Grindle, PVC All Conference Second Team and Bangor Daily Class D All Tourney team; Connor Morey, Bangor Daily Class D All Tourney Honorable Mention; and Hayden Ciomei, PVC All Conference Third Team. Cheerleading Coach Kim Larsen gave out the following awards: Emma Merritt for Sprit and Dedication; Amber Jones for Dedication and Service; and Paige Rollins for Leadership and Spirit. Sarah Burgess got the Lacy Greenlaw Memorial Sportsmanship Award. |
