DISHS boys tennis lose close match in playoffs

The boys’ tennis team lost their playoff match 4-1 to Fort Kent. Because of poor weather, it was played indoors at Bangor. A plus from that was the game was featured on the WABI TV sports with a picture of Ole Bartos.

In the singles, Ole Bartos lost two close matches 4-6, 4-6. Drew Siebert rallied in the second match but ended up losing 1-6, 7-5, 2-6. Tim Cormier won by forfeit. In the doubles, Ivan Zembrusky/Matt Duddy lost

2-6, 2-6, and Andy Turner/Doug Heanssler lost 0-6, 1-6. We did quite well as a team, starting off by being a complete unknown quantity in the spring. With most of the players returning, we should only get better for next year.

The girls didn’t make the playoffs, but also should improve for next year, despite the loss of number one singles player Esther Adams, who made it to the round of 48 in the individual tournament. Many of the girls had just started this year, so working on the off season should make us a stronger team.
