by Faith DeAmbrose

The Environmental Protection Agency and Maine Department of Environmental Protection have called a meeting to discuss the Callahan Mine Superfund site in Brooksville.

According to information from the DEP, there will be an update regarding on-going cleanup efforts of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCB) contamination and of residential sites, as well as information about a potential change in ownership of the property. Representatives from the Smith Cove Preservation Trust, the owner of record, will be there to answer questions.

The meeting will take place at the Brooksville Public Service building on Wednesday, July 18, at 7 p.m.
