Public input sought for DIS CSD strategic plan

by Jessica Brophy

The Deer Isle-Stonington Consolidated School District is facing a host of challenges in the next few years, according to a press release from the DIS Strategic Planning Committee. Questions about school budget priorities, administrative structures, staffing levels, programs and facilities will need to be asked and answered in the coming years.

Guiding these issues will be the CSD’s new strategic plan, currently in the works. A group of administrators, school board members, teachers, students, parents and community members have been meeting since November to update and rewrite the CSD’s five year plan.

A public forum for community input on those issues will be held on Wednesday, February 29. The forum will have two different meeting times—3 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 7 p.m. to “accommodate scheduling conflicts,” according to a press release. Both meetings will be held in the high school cafeteria and babysitting will be available for both sessions.

For those who are unable to attend the public forum at either time, a survey can be filled out online at www.dishs.org.
