On Saturday, August 11, the annual St. Francis Fair will be held at the Blue Hill Fairgrounds from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. St. Francis by the Sea Episcopal Church in Blue Hill has announced that Child and Family Opportunities (CFO) located in Ellsworth will be its 2012 Fair Partner, according to a press release. The CFO mission states, “We Believe All Children and Their Families Deserve to Thrive.” One of the programs run by Child and Family Opportunities is the Head Start Program held at the Sedgwick Elementary school. St. Francis has been a long-time supporter of this program that serves children and families on the Blue Hill Peninsula. Research has shown that children who participate in high-quality, early learning programs are better prepared as they enter kindergarten. “With state and federal funding being drastically cut, having CFO as a fair partner will help insure the future of this important program,” said Nancy Doane, fair chairman. “The entire staff at CFO is excited to work with us and has already begun collecting ‘stuff’ for the fair. We look forward to having their presence at the fair.” To learn more about this organization go to childandfamilyopp.org. St Francis’s 2012 fair will feature a record number of tables of “Junque for Jesus,” thousands of books, jewelry and baked goods of all kinds. A new feature will be the Treasure Chest—holding fine furniture, art, china, wine baskets, a vacation trip to Disney World and much more. |
