Fourth annual Blueberry Festival set for this weekend

by Lyra Fuchs

The First Congregational Church of Blue Hill will host its fourth annual Blueberry Festival on Saturday, August 4, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. The festival is fit for berry and craft lovers alike, as vendors will be offering a variety of products and activities.

Hopeful bakers can compete in a blueberry pie bake-off. For those who just wish to eat, there will be many dishes for sale, as well as a pancake breakfast in the morning. For shoppers, the festival plans to open a silent auction, flea market and used book sale. Items up for bid at the auction include furniture, jewelry, clothing and novelties. A general store will sell souvenirs that are blueberry themed, of course.

The church plans to set up a children’s area, complete with a bounce house, dunk tank and cake walk. The popular “Pocket Lady” will return to the children’s delight. Musicians will entertain throughout the blueberry-filled day.
