Chamber music offered at Kneisel Hall

Violinist Ronald Copes and pianist Seymour Lipkin will present two concerts of Beethoven sonatas for violin and piano Friday, August 17, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, August 19, at 4 p.m. in the historic Kneisel Hall Concert Hall in Blue Hill. Open rehearsal for the program is at 9 a.m. on August 17 in the hall on Pleasant Street.

Friday they will play Sonata No, 6 in A major, Op. 30/l, Sonata No. 3 in E-flat major, Op. 12/3, and Sonata No 10 in G major, Op. 96. On Sunday, they will play Sonata No. 2 in A major Op. 12/2, Sonata No. 8 in G major, Op. 30/3 and Sonata No. 9 in A major, Op. 47, the “Kreutzer”.

Kneisel Hall Chamber Music Festival is a concert series, chamber music school, and advocate of chamber music through many outreach programs. The Festival can trace its origins to 1902 when Franz Kneisel, founder of the first professional string quartet in America, began bringing students to his Maine vacation home for summer study.
