Blue Hill School sets policy on pregnancy
The Weekly Packet, Celebrating our 50th year

A definite policy regarding married students and unwed mothers was adopted Sunday night by members of the joint board of the Blue Hill-George Stevens Academy.

The joint board is composed of the three school committee members and three trustees of the academy.

In the case of pregnancy, the girl will be required to leave school when her condition becomes apparent to the principal. She will be encouraged to return to school, however, the September following the birth of the child.

MARRIED COUPLES will be allowed to continue school, and encouraged to get all they can out of their academic education, but will not be allowed to participate in club or team extra-curricular activities.

The boy responsible for an unwed mother, if known by admission or definite proof, will be barred from club or team extra-curricular activities.
