Remember When
The first snow of the season to amount to anything fell on the PACKET area Monday night and Tuesday, with accumulations up to two or more inches in portions of the area. Last week’s state-wide storm deposited little more than a fast-disappearing layer of snow several miles from the coast, while immediate coastal areas experienced heavy rainfall. This week’s snow, however, was severe enough to call out town and state plow and sanding equipment. State Highway Commission vehicles were first alerted early Tuesday morning through the 24-hour highway patrol network. Roads Wednesday were bare but wet as the layer melted, but roads Tuesday were generally slippery, requiring coats of sand and salt. |
