Oldest citizen celebrates 96th birthday

Edwin E. Conary, oldest citizen of Blue Hill, celebrated his 96th birthday Saturday. More than 25 friends and relatives visited him during the day.

Conary, for the past three years, has been holder of the gold headed cane presented by the Boston Post to Blue Hill to be presented to its oldest citizen. At his death, the cane is transferred to the next in line.

Mr. Maurice Leach bequeathed the cane to Conary. Conary’s brother was also a holder of the cane about 15 years ago.
