Dale Higgins, now teaching at Gorham, has been hired as principal for the Blue Hill Consolidated School next year.

Higgins has had three years of teaching experience and is now working on his masters degree in business administration at the University of Maine.

He is married and the father of twin daughters six months old.

Supt. Albert Skidds also announced that one other new teacher has been hired, Mrs. Jerry Durnbaugh, Blue Hill, who will teach English and coach drama at Blue Hill-George Stevens Academy. She takes the post of John Mullens who has resigned a the end of the school year.

Skidds said two other teachers were needed for the academy as Ed Buckley, mathematics teacher and coach, and Dave Deshon, science teacher, are leaving at the end of the school year.

In other schools in the Union, Penobscot and Blue Hill, all teachers are returning next year, he said.
