Tree crashes across Graytown Road

Tree crashes across Graytown Road

A large tree, rotted through the base of its trunk, gave way around noon on Friday, July 28, and crashed down across Route 175, between Mines Road and Frank Flats Landing. As Sedgwick Fire Department Chief David Carter and volunteer firefighters diverted traffic at Mines Road, and Brooksville Fire Department handled the intersection at Franks Flat Landing, an Emera crew untangled power lines, while firefighters, including Penobscot Chief Dennis Robertson, remained on the scene, waiting for Maine Department of Transportation to clear the road. One neighbor reported hearing a very loud crash, noting the amount of summer traffic on the road that, fortunately, was clear of vehicles at the time.
