Blue Hill YMCA hosts the area’s first Zumbathon
On September 17 The Blue Hill YMCA hosted the area’s first Zumbathon to raise money and an awareness of the importance of staying active, say organizers. A Zumbathon—an extended period of time that Zumba, a Latin-inspired dance-fitness is conducted—raised more than $200 for the TradeWinds Oncology Fund, which helps local residents struggling with the financial burdens of cancer. The event took place near the YMCA facility behind TradeWinds on a stage donated by Tim and Brenda Fowler and decorated with lights and balloons. More than 40 people participated. The next fundraising Zumbathon will take place on Thanksgiving morning, said Annie Grindal of the Blue Hill Y.
