Blue Hill resident Scott Miller is currently in the middle of the Bermuda One-Two Race, and recently finished the first part in first place for the Class 1 division. The race consists of a singlehanded (one person per boat) race from Newport, RI to Bermuda, followed by a doublehanded (two persons) race from Bermuda back to Newport. Miller did the solo trip on his sailboat, Resolute, a J/122, which hails from Blue Hill. Beginning June 20, Miller will race back to Newport accompanied by George Haselton of Rockland. The race had an unusual number of retirements due to difficult weather conditions, said Miller in an June 18 email, but said Resolute had essentially no damage, adding “so far so good.” For more information on the Bermuda One-Two Race or to track Miller’s progress along the course, visit bermuda1-2.org.
