The rain, which at times turned to a steady deluge, didn’t stop the 98 runners who participated in the 4K Pumpkin Race on Saturday, September 29. Sponsored by TradeWinds Marketplace to benefit George Stevens Academy, the mostly downhill course began in the store’s parking lot and ended at the library, which opened its doors to shelter them for the awards ceremony. The first place winner was Matt Homich of Ellsworth with a 12:33 time. Katherine Collins was the first woman across the finish line at 15:16. Eighth place finisher and GSA senior Ben Eley was the first Blue Hill resident to cross the finish line, with a time of 14:09.
