Two Brooklin School students were awarded honors after their letters placed in the state portion of the national “Letters about Literature Contest.” The contest asks students to write a personal letter to the author of a book as a means to engage students with literature. Leigh Brooks, left, took first place in the state for Level 1, grades four through six. Ingrid Peterson, right, took second place in the state in Level 2, grades seven and eight. The two were presented with awards on Friday May 18 by Maine Humanities Council board member Patti Bixel of Penobscot, center.
