Ringing in the new year

Resident’s from Blue Hill and surrounding towns rang in the New Year at Blue Hill’s annual “Last Night” celebration. The evening started at the Congregational Church as “Father Timely” read the “Last Night” proclamation, followed by song and poetry from Noel Stookey, George Emlen and Stuart Kestenbaum. A full house joined in the singing. Following the “Call to Last Night” were a variety of events around town. Local music groups and artists included the Loose Cannon Jug Band, Maine Weather, the Brooklin Town Band and many others. Participants also had the opportunity to dance to traditional folk and Scottish dancing as well as steel drums from members of three different steel bands.
