The Deer Isle-Stonington Mariner cheerleading squad
The Deer Isle-Stonington Mariner cheerleading squad placed third in the Class D State Cheerleading Competition on February 11 at the Augusta Civic Center. “We hit everything clean, we did a solid routine,” said Emma Merritt, the squad’s only senior. Coach Kim Larsen was pleased with the squad’s performance overall. “This is a real genuine group of girls,” said Larsen. “They were always willing to try something new and add difficulty. The squad will have the majority of its members return next year. “Watch out for these juniors,” said Larsen. “They can taste it.”
