Box 40, Sedgwick, ME Fax: 359-2342 Municipal Information Town Description Blessed with two good harbors, Sedgwick has had a history of marine-related occupations. Fishing, clam-digging, seafaring and shipbuilding have each had a significant role in the local economy. The town has the oldest Town (Meeting) House in continuous use in the United States. Today, a number of small farms in the area meet local needs and participate in popular farmers’ markets. Sargentville, a part of Sedgwick, holds its own place in local history as the terminus of the stage coach line to Bucksport. The area’s most striking feature, Caterpillar Hill, affords a sweeping vista from a roadside turnout on Rte. 15, across blueberry fields to Penobscot Bay and Camden in the west, south to Isle au Haut, and east to Jericho Bay.
